As the end of the year draws closer, we would like to provide you with some important information regarding our Maths Bridging Course.
Bridging Course Details
Date: 5-22 January 2021, Monday to Friday.
Time: 08:00 - 16:00.
Price: The bridging course is free for signed up students with an attendance of 85% or more.
All students are required to pay a R500 attendance deposit. Students with an attendance of 85% or more will have this amount reallocated towards their tuition fees at the end of the course. Students who sign up for the course but do not achieve an 85% attendance rate will forfeit their attendance deposit.
Final test date: 22 January 2021.
NB: The bridging course is only available to students who have registered for the 2021 academic year and who have paid the registration fee.
How the Course Will Work
The bridging course will take place online via Microsoft Teams but we have made a limited number of face-to-face spots available for students who do not have the necessary infrastructure to attend the course online. You will require the following to attend online:
Please note that once you have paid your registration fee and have been enrolled as a student, you will receive the login details to access Microsoft Office software (all licenses are included in the course fees).
All students registered for the bridging course will receive an orientation pack via email. This pack will contain information regarding attending classes online and how to make the most of the online learning experience. Please make sure you familiarise yourself with this information as you will be required to write a test on the material.
Our campuses are closing on 23 December 2020 and will reopen on 4 January 2021. Registrations for our Maths Bridging Course can only be done before we close or after we open. We encourage all students to complete their registration before we close to avoid the January mad rush! Late registrations will be allowed at the discretion of the Dean. Students who are permitted to register late will be responsible for ensuring that they are able to catch up before the aforementioned final test date.
Students who do not meet the necessary requirements to enrol for one of our degree programmes will be provisionally enrolled for the Diploma in Information Technology until their Maths Bridging Course results are available. This includes:
These students will only be enrolled for the applicable degree programme if they achieve the necessary marks for the Maths Bridging Course (50% for the Bachelor of Information Technology and 70% for the Bachelor of Computing).
In the event that a student achieves the required marks for the Maths Bridging Course but does not have a Bachelor endorsement on their NSC (or equivalent), the Registrar will apply for special exemption from the Matriculation Board on their behalf. This will come at a fee of approximately R560 which will be charged to the student’s account.
Further to this, once a student’s qualification has been changed from a diploma to a degree, a fees adjustment will be made to their account to make up for the difference in price between these qualifications. Please view the yearly tuition fees for our different qualifications below:
|Qualification||Tuition PTA/KP||Tuition PE|
|Diploma in IT||R 69 900,00||R 59 900,00|
|Bachelor of IT||R 79 700,00||R 69 700,00|
|Bachelor of Computing||R 89 500,00||R 79 500,00|
NB: The above are our once-off tuition fees but a 10-month payment plan option is also available.
Please do not hesitate to contact us should you require further information or clarification. You can send us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org or give us a call on 010 593 5368.
We look forward to welcoming you in the near future.
