Who Employs Our Students?
How the event works
Our students’ CVs and work portfolios are accessible to all attending organisations prior to the events. This allows the organisations to get to know each student and their specific competencies in order to identify students they would like to further engage with at the event.
Each attending organisation is allocated 20 minutes to present themselves. As soon as we have an indication of the number of organisations that will join us, a schedule is drawn up and forwarded to each company. Each organisation is free to use its presentation time as they see fit, but here are some suggestions on what to include:
• A short intro/background on your company.
• Your mission/vision.
• Projects that your company is involved in.
• The type of students you are looking to recruit, e.g., bachelor’s degree or diploma.
• What it’s like to intern/work at your company.
• What your company culture is like.
• Opportunities for growth and development at your company.
After each organisation has presented themselves, we have a one-hour contact session to allow each organisation to meaningfully engage with small groups of our students. Each company I is provided with an exhibition space with a table and chairs to do this from.
Our career day events provide our final year Bachelor of Computing and Diploma in Information Technology students an opportunity to network with multiple organisations to secure the workplace training they must undertake to complete their qualifications.
The events exponentially increase the opportunities and choices available to them by exposing them to a range of organisations and the various work environments and expectations that come with them.
We help our students put their best foot forward and make a lasting impression at these events by offering free CV and interview skills workshops throughout their studies. The result? Students who enter the industry with the incredible advantage of an established career network and crucial industry knowledge.
