In short, upskilling is when an employee learns new skills in order to keep up with their transforming job role. Rapid technological advancement and digital transformation have placed the world of work in a state of constant flux. Existing job roles continue to shift and morph in response to the introduction of new technologies, and the need for upskilling continues to increase as employees strive to keep up.
Part-Time Studies

Staying one step ahead of the skill-shift/ digital revolution is not an easy task, especially if you are a working adult who can’t afford to take time off to upskilll. This is where part-time studies come in. Part-time studies allow you to broaden your tech knowledge and skills without infringing on company time. They also come with the added advantage of allowing you to work to fund your own studies, rather than having to rely fully on a student loan.
Bachelor of IT Degree
As an information technology university, Belgium Campus iTversity fully understands the importance of upskilling, which is why they offer their exceptional Bachelor of IT degree (NQF level 7) part-time. It is a full contact-mode programme, with lectures presented on Saturdays. It is five years in duration for individuals without prior information technology knowledge and/or experience, and it is offered at all three of the iTversity’s campuses. Individuals who have studied IT or have worked in the field can apply for recognition of prior learning, which may enable them to complete the course in a shorter period of time.
In addition to the above, Belgium Campus maintains strong relationships with a number of leading tech companies. This allows the iTversity to keeps its qualifications in line with the latest skills and profiles required in the industry. With this in mind, you can rest assured that on completion of this qualification you will be more than ready to thrive in the rapidly changing tech field.
Entry Requirements
The following admission requirements must be met in order to study the Bachelor of IT degree at Belgium Campus:
- A National Senior Certificate endorsed for a Degree.
- 50% or more for English on the NSC. Foreign applicants are required to produce their SAQA converted qualification listing English as a subject or complete an English proficiency test.
- 50% or more for pure mathematics on the NSC. Foreign applicants are required to produce their SAQA converted qualification listing mathematics as a subject.
