Qualify to study for an IT degree with our maths bridging course.

Jan 2024

Do you want to study for an IT degree but don’t quite meet the necessary admission requirements? This course is for you!

About the Bridging Programme

Our maths bridging course is an intensive mathematics course with an assessment on the final day. It gives students who did not meet the necessary admission requirements to study one of our degrees a second opportunity to do so.

You Should Do This Course If:

  • You did not take mathematics in high school but would like to enrol for one of our degree programmes.
  • You received (or are worried that you will receive) less than 50% for mathematics on the NSC but would like to enrol for one of our degree programmes.
  • You did not (or are worried that you will not) achieve a bachelor’s endorsement on your NSC but would like to enrol for one of our degree programmes.

Qualifying to Study for an IT Degree

To change your enrolment from a certificate or diploma to a degree, you must achieve the following results for the Maths Bridging Course:

50% to study for the Bachelor of Information Technology (NQF 7).

70% to study for the Bachelor of Computing (NQF 8).

If you achieve the required marks but do not have a bachelor’s endorsement on your NSC (or equivalent), the Registrar will apply for special exemption from the Matriculation Board on your behalf. This exemption comes at a fee of R900, which will be charged to your student account.
